Greetings again my friends.  It has been another busy week in the church.  We are preparing for our Valentine Banquet tonight.  I look forward to some good food and great entertainment by Seth and Alana Miranda from Ryan.  Several are working hard as I write.  Many days this week have felt like an early spring.  It is about onion planting time, so I am sure many are getting their gardens ready.

God is good.  We got a great report from Shannon Adams this week.  She had an aneurysm in her brain but they put a stint in and she is doing well.  Billy Smith had a terrible cough but she is doing better.  God does answer prayers.  Joe Keeter had a scare with a jack hitting him in the head this week.  Thank goodness for a hard head.  It looks terrible.

This Sunday we have something special coming.  Dale Rochellis an award-winning gospel singer.  He has some big hits on the gospel circuit and performs all across the country.  He will be in our worship service at 10:30 so invite your friends and let’s support Dale and Janell as they bring their ministry to Waurika.  Many of you will miss out on a sermon from me, but I can preach twice as long the next Sunday. Maybe not!!

The Lenten season begins next week.  It is hard to believe but Ash Wednesday is the 18th.  We will have a service next Wednesday at 6 p.m. in our sanctuary.  It will be brief but many enjoy that time together.  This would be a great reason to rededicate yourself to becoming more like Jesus.  Our sermon series will continue in James, but we will give focus to a Lenten theme each Sunday.

The Gypsy Group, the name for the Alcoholics Anonymous chapter, fires back up next Thursday the 19th.  It will be in the Methodist Church building.  Location exactly is still being worked out. In addition, the Al-Anon group is going strong and meets for now at Nell Largent’s house each Monday night at 6:30 p.m.  We can all learn from these folks as we always struggle with something, as we recognize that we need God as our higher power to get us through.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is a passion of Johnny Griffin and he is bringing a blood drive to our church on Friday, February 20th from 1 to 6 p.m.  I have received several messages lately about this organization needing blood.  This is a great way to serve those in need.

I challenge you to re-read the 23rd Psalm this week.  It is so meaningful. It seems like these are anxious times for many people and we all need the “still waters” that God provides in this Psalm.

Have a great rest of the week.  Hope to see you Sunday.
