By Pastor Everett Hodges

Greetings! If I were guessing, I would think that many of you haven’t seen outside your 4 walls in about a week.  I hope you have enjoyed some time to rest.  Maybe some of you cleaned a closet.  I know we cooked and ate, cooked and ate, and just kept repeating that process.  I still laugh at Monica’s creativity about adding snow to my picture with Buffalo Bill in Cody, Wyoming.

I am really looking forward to this Sunday, February 1st.  After our normal breakfast, Sunday School, and Worship, we will have a note-burning celebration.  We will give praise first and foremost to our God.  Then we will recognize some people that had a big hand in getting us here. After we witness that short ceremony, we will go to the fellowship hall and have a wonderful meal.  Brisket, pulled pork and sausage are on the menu along with potato salad (home-made I understand), and baked beans.  We will have a wonderful time of fellowship and celebrate where God has brought us in such a short time.

February is setting up to be a very busy month for our church.  On my calendar I have our celebration Sunday, a Ministerial Alliance meeting (to talk about Holy Week), the hosting of a Women’s Leadership Meeting, our Valentine’s banquet on the 12th, Dale Rochell ministering to us in song on the 15th, and a Blood drive on the 20th.   We will have an Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m. on the 18th and the first Sunday of Lent is the 22nd.

I have enjoyed studying in the book of James.  I have had several say how much you love that book.  Honestly, there is something for me in every verse of that book.  I encourage to memorize that memory verse that Monica posts each week.

I apologize for the confusion last Sunday morning.  My ignorance about Facebook surfaced.  Hopefully I have learned how to do things.  I am going to try to do a 5-minute devotional every Friday at noon.  Maybe that is something you can look forward.  I am going to start with a study of Proverbs each week.

We continue as a church to have a very big presence in our Food Pantry each month. That is a good mission and I salute those from our community that serve the hungry.  We give a donation each month as well as several volunteer their time.

See you Sunday. Invite a friend.  It will be great to see everyone.
