New all-in-one marketing solution gives huge boost to declining media industry.

In January 2016, Marketing Solutions Group officially launched their new Turn-key Program. MSG’s new program combines proven database marketing tools with cutting edge marketing insights, strategy and implementation.

The news industry has had a rough decade. Print readership is steadily declining, some newspapers are closing, and staff with decades of experience are being laid off. In response, major newspapers have made considerable changes. They’re attempting to combat diminishing reader interest  by any means necessary.

In early 2015, MSG went to work on their new all-in-one program by combining 20+ years of industry data with decades of combined marketing strategy experience. MSG’s very first step was to define the program’s sole purpose, which is to ignite a dynamic sales presence and handsome revenue stream for the media industry. Then, MSG defined the core strategy, which is to pinpoint who the consumer is and provide them with contextual experiences that truly resonate.

Now for the technical stuff.

MSG’s first step is the integration of current newspaper consumer data with Experian Marketing Services data to achieve a complete 360 degree profile of each customer segment.

Wait, what does Experian do?

Experian does more than keep information on people’s credit histories. Over the last 30 years, Experian has accumulated a very complex consumer data mosaic which has allowed marketing companies the ability to identify hidden opportunities, common preferences and behaviors, and gain actionable insight into who the consumer is, how they think and what they do.

Next, MSG funnels all of this data into an online tool called MMS™. This interactive tool allows media industry staff to target specific consumers for direct mail, product development and subscription sales.

After the database is built and integrated with MMS™, MSG  takes everything a step further by providing sales staff with a state-of-the-art CRM sales tool called SugarCRM. SugarCRM is an open-source Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution used by over 80,000 companies across the world. MSG has taken the proven SugarCRM solution and enhanced it for the media industry. Now sales reps have contact information and customer relationship data in one tool.

Not to be outdone by the development team, MSG’s marketing and design team analyzes the newspaper’s current and historical marketing efforts, and provides customized recommendations based on local markets.

MSG’s team creates, deploys and tracks custom acquisition, welcome and retention emails. The emails are designed with specific newspaper branding and content. They also deploy email campaigns based on Experian Mosaic® data and demographic information to truly target the message. MSG also creates and deploys direct mail campaigns based on Experian Mosaic® data. Finally, MSG  provides custom telemarketing contact lists and even offers to facilitate the calls.
