FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
George Coleman, VP of National Advertising of the Northeast Tennessee Media Group recently presented two specific advertising examples of success using the MMS (Marketing Management System) during an MSG webinar:
Pella Windows had asked for information on why they should advertise in the newspapers in the Johnson City market. Coleman was able to present demograhic and market data from MMS as well as specific information that showed the majority of homes in the market were built in the 50s and 60s which would make them good candidates for replacement windows. They also showed the percentage of homeowners interested in home improvement and length of residence and strong readership information. This data helped secure a print and deliver program that generated more than $10,000.
Also presented was an example with JCPenney and Sunday Select. In their market it’s a forced advertising buy for JCPenney (Sunday full run plus Sunday Select product). JCPenney was skeptical on providing the nonsub households the inserts. The newspaper was able to show the commonalities between the two buy profiling each product. Both had high homeownership and education but when it came to age and children in the household, it was very different. The Sunday Select profile showed a strong, younger age group engaged with the product as well as households with children. This information helped to secure the Sunday Select business.
Lynn Brooks, Database Manager also from The Northeast Tennessee Media Group also reported using CP-ADS to identify typical TV Book advertisers. Outside reps were assigned active accounts on the list and inside sales were assigned the accounts with no business in the last 12 months or longer. A total of 118 businesses were called and and 24 new-business appointments were secured. Those appointments lead to five sales with a total contracted new-business value of $14,607. “We would have never thought to present the TV Book to these particular businesses without this program,” said Lynn.
